West Philadelphia Skatepark Guide

Over the years West Philadelphia has become the proud home to several skate parks. These parks aren’t your runt of the litter Skatewave obstacle parks either, these are fully fledged concrete parks. The three parks I’d like to draw attention to are Mc Creesh Playground, Granahan skate park, and Grays Ferry skate park. Jesse Clayton and the folks at 5th Pocket are responsible for creation of Granahan, Grays Ferry and a few other parks scattered around the Philadelphia area. All these parks are worth giving plenty of time and attention but you can also plan a day around hitting all three of these parks.

West Philadelphia Street Guide

West Philadelphia is bustling with young adults and teenagers. Between three major universities and the local residents, there is no shortage of able-bodied young people, so it comes as no surprise that skateboarding is becoming more prevalent in this area. West Philadelphia has become home to several skate parks over the years; however, there is a certain sense of authenticity that makes street skateboarding so alluring. Despite access to nearby skate parks that can satisfy a craving to skate street obstacles or transition ramps, getting out in the mean streets to discover spots to claim as your own will always reign supreme. Being a talented street skateboarder requires a fine balance between a childish sense of discovery and a serious demeanor that will prepare the rider to accept any consequences.. West Philadelphia may not be on the forefront of people’s minds when they think of East Coast skateboarding, but it is home to a myriad of spots that are perfect for beginners and experts alike.
